Memorial Service for Allan Giles
As Allan’s funeral was held in Baildon it wasn’t possible for a large group of students to attend. We invited a small group to attend the funeral and decided that we would hold a memorial service for Years 10 and 11 who knew him well. The service consisted of some members of Allan’s tutor group singing, reciting poems, dancing and reading out tributes. Members of staff also read poems and tributes and we ended by singing “All Things Bright and Beautiful” which was one of the hymns sung at Allan’s funeral.
After the service Allan’s tutor group went onto the school field where they each released a white balloon.
The service was a fitting tribute to a well loved and respected teacher. Allan would have been proud of the students in his tutor group.
